Canceled until furth notice
Sorry for the late notice. The web standards meetings will be canceled until further notice. I canceled the meetings for many reasons, the biggest reasons were issues with our meeting space, low attendance, lack of presenters, no sponsorship money, and several other factors.
This group may or may not return, That's anyone's guess. I am working with Bill Mead to secure another location for our group, and plan some topics. In the meantime, if you subscribe on the right for email notifications you will be notified if and when the group returns.

Student Portfolio Show

Art Institute is holding a student portfolio show on the same night as our meeting and I know many people wanted to attend the show. It's also a busy time of year with the holidays and all. So, instead of having our traditional meeting, I thought it would be great if everyone would meet up at the Art Institute and shows support for the next generation of web students. After the show those that are interested can meet up for a social mixer at a nearby restaurant and talk web.

Introduction to CoffeeScript
CoffeeScript is a new language by Jeremy Ashkenas that was created to make JavaScript programming easier, safer, and more compact. Its syntax is vaguely Ruby-like and it offers access to all of the "good parts" of JavaScript. Compiled CoffeeScript results in highly readable, clean JavaScript code ready for use in a browser or server environment. CoffeeScript was recently added as a default component of the Ruby on Rails 3.1 stack of technologies. Join Christopher Haupt on a brief introduction of the language.
